A scanner, also known as a scanning device, is a tool used to capture images or text from physical formats and convert them into digital formats. This device is widely used in offices for scanning documents. There are various types of scanners, each with its own functions and operating methods. Here are some common types of scanners:
- Flatbed Scanner: This type resembles a photocopy machine, featuring a flat glass surface where documents to be scanned are placed. Flatbed scanners can be used to scan documents ranging from small to large sizes.
- Sheet-fed Scanner: This scanner uses a paper feed mechanism to automatically input documents. This type is suitable for scanning smaller documents, such as letter-sized papers.
- Handheld Scanner: Designed for scanning documents or images that are difficult to reach with regular scanners. Handheld scanners are commonly used in everyday life as security tools for scanning items.
- Drum Scanner: Utilized for scanning images or documents at high resolutions. Drum scanners employ a rotating scanning system that allows for high-speed scanning of images or documents.
- Portable Scanner: A small, lightweight scanning device that enables users to efficiently scan images and documents. This type of scanner is easy to carry, space-saving, and efficient.
- Scanner Printer Multifungsi: A device that combines scanning, printing, and copying functions in one unit. The advantage of this device is that it saves space, reduces costs, and simplifies usage.
Scanners can also be equipped with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, which allows users to convert scanned documents into editable text. With OCR, users can edit scanned documents and convert them into more accessible and editable formats.
